Baskets For Your Indoor Plants
Baskets for indoor plants add so much beauty and flare to any space!
Adding plants to your home is the first step towards a beautiful and healthy space.
In-fact, it has been scientifically proven that indoor plants boost your mental health and immune system, improve your productivity, while purifying the surrounding air!
The health benefits of plants go hand in hand with the aesthetic enhancement they bring to any given space, even more so when they are displayed in woven baskets!
Baskets for indoor plants can be found anywhere these days. Even baskets that are meant for storage or as decor elements can be used as cache pots for plants, as long as you are smart about water leakage!
I personally love using woven baskets for my plants because they can help me cover the less appealing plastic pots that have the drainage my plants need.
Using cache pots such as these baskets, is one of the strategies I describe in my article about planting in pots without drainage holes.
Here is an example of how I protect both my basket and the floor from water. Since I am already using a nice basket from Amazon to cover my plant’s pot, I make sure the pot I use has drainage holes to prevent roots rot. It is very important that all plants have proper drainage in order to survive and thrive.
If your intention is to focus on enhancing the look of your space with plants but you are not a green thumb expert quite yet, I recommend you start with low maintenance indoor plants. This article will provide you with a list of easy indoor plants that are hard to kill.
Let’s take a look at different ways to use baskets for indoor plants.
1. baskets for large indoor plants on the floor
There is no size limits when it comes to baskets for indoor plants.
In-fact, you can place even your biggest plants inside woven baskets; whether they are tall trees or large plants, you can find the perfect basket to suit its style and proportions.
Since larger and taller plants are heavier and much harder to move around, it is critical that you plan for practicality, even when you use pretty baskets.
Plants of any size need proper drainage and periodic watering. This means you need to make sure that the pot you place into the basket has proper drainage, and that a saucer to collect excess water has been placed inside the basket in order to avoid water spills of any kind.
My Birds of Paradise Tree is still planted inside its original pot. I’ve only added a saucer to the bottom of this basket to collect excess water after the weekly watering routine.
I purposely chose a round basket for this long and tall cactus. I wanted to give a softer look to a prickly plant!
I really like this shape and a beautiful, similar basket can be found on Amazon.
This Monstera Deliciosa is planted inside a big terracotta pot that provides the plant all the drainage it needs. Terracotta pots are aesthetically pleasing but this basket was even more visually appealing to me!
2 baskets for medium indoor plants on stands
Baskets for indoor plants combined with plant stands can create quite a beautiful composition.
Plant stands on their own can be beautiful decor object with a purpose. The addition of a woven basket as a cache pot will definitely add detail and character to the surrounding environment.
It’s a matter of matching and/or contrasting textures, colours and materials by ensuring that the basket is the right medium between plant and stand.
I used both my Amazon baskets for the plants in our bedroom and I like how they look good both on the floor and on the plant stand.

3. baskets for small indoor plants on table tops
Even the smallest basket for the smallest indoor plant can define the style of an entire room!
What I particularly like about small baskets is that most of the times they come in sets, so that some pieces can be used as cache pots for small plants, while others can be containers for collection items, or even function as jewelry boxes.

4. where to buy baskets for indoor plants
Here are some of my favourite woven basket styles. Except for the Home Sense ones, they can all be purchased online.
I highly recommend you measure the pot diameter of the plant you are buying a basket for and you compare it with the dimensions listed in the products specifications before you click “purchase”!
This is my showcase of baskets and pots after a successful trip at Home Sense. I always find the best woven baskets there!

Make sure you have a plant in a black plastic draining pot before you place it into this type of basket, as you will be able to see any other colour through the woven material.
